BUSINESSWOMAN CONQUERS GREATEST CHALLENGE

An intrepid Staffordshire entrepreneur has raised £20000 for The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice by scaling Mount Kilimanjaro. 

Gabrielle Hadley climbed Africa’s highest peak in September 2012 and raised £19341 - £1 for every foot of the mountain. The donation, which was presented to the Stoke-on-Trent-based charity on 4th March, will cover the hospice’s daily running costs for three days. 

The Managing Director of ExtraMile Communications, a web development agency in Eccleshall, now plans to write a book about her experiences and the motivation which carried her through 12 months of training. 

The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust provides a range of specialist care and support services for children with a shortened life expectancy and their families. Care and support is free of charge to children and families, and the charity needs to raise £2.4m a year to run its services. 

Melanie Mills, Director of Fundraising and PR at The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, said: “This is an amazing achievement by Gabrielle, who has literally gone to the top of the world toraise money for the charity. “It is going to make a tremendous difference to the lives of local children and their families. “Gabrielle is a real inspiration!”
