Offsite airport parking 'can save you money'

Using offsite airport parking could be one way to save money on your summer holiday, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper highlighted that most of the time the price an airport charges to use its parking facilities will be higher than outside parking operators, sometimes by a significant amount.

However, the news provider said that it is important that holidaymakers take into account the extra time it may take to travel from offsite airport parking to the terminal.

Those looking to stay in an airport hotel the night before they jet off were advised to look into deals that combine a hotel room and airport parking.

"If you stay in a budget hotel, the stay-and-park rates often cost little more than the parking alone and sometimes actually less, effectively making the hotel room free," it explained.

Research released recently from the Hogg Robinson Group revealed that Heathrow Airport hotels have the second highest room rates in the UK – which could encourage people to head online and look for the best airport hotel deals.

The average price per night worked out at £103.87.
