Success at Learning at Work Day 2012

Workplaces around the country celebrated learning in their workplaces last Thursday, 17th May which was National Learning at Work Day. Findcourses.co.uk partnered with the Campaign for Learning (CfL), to raise awareness of Learning at Work Day and help match training providers with companies resulting in many successful events.

Workplaces around the country celebrated learning in their workplaces last Thursday, 17th May which was National Learning at Work Day. Part of Adult Learners’ Week, and now in its 13th year, Learning at Work Day is recognised as the biggest annual celebration of workplace learning and aims to help organisations to uncover new skills within their workforce, build new partnerships and reach business goals through developing their staff.

The Campaign for Learning (CfL), which coordinates Learning at Work Day nationally, work hard all year to highlight the ways that learning and development can support workers and employers to plan for the future and develop new ways of working in our ever changing world.

Findcourses.co.uk partnered with the CfLto help raise awareness of Learning at Work Day and had been matching companies and training providers. More than 40 Learning at Work Day events took place as result of Findcourses.co.uk’s matchmaking at workplaces across the country. From workshops and taster sessions, live streamed webcast’s and even a tele-workshop – Findcourses.co.uk helped put training providers in front of audiences that were keen to get a taste of what they offer, for future training purchasing

All workplaces had their own take on Learning at Work Day and used it as an opportunity to motivate, inspire and grow themselves and their colleagues. Tania Tiippana, Learning and Development Consultant at PAREXEL International, used Learning at Work Day as a way of “giving employees a taste of Professional Development training on a day that is celebrated nationally – To inspire and motivate employees to develop themselves.”

Findcourses.co.uk helped PAREXEL International reach providers that delivered workshops that matched the Company Values and would be directly relatable to both employees and management. In just one day, workshops in areas of Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Performance Management , Time Management and Leadership skills were delivered that aimed to “ inspire employees to undertake further professional development and create a positive and lasting learning culture in an environment in which employees might be time poor and aren’t used to taking time away from work duties for on-going professional development”, Tania Tiippana.

.

Learning at Work Day also benefits training providers who are able to highlight their training services to thousands of workplaces across the UK, and generate interest in their training as part of a national campaign. David Watts, Client Partner at FranklinCovey told findcourses.co.uk that “taking part in Learning at Work Day 2012 gave us a great opportunity to meet both new potential clients and those directly exposed to the learning, something we certainly see great benefits in our overall involvement”.

Findcourses.co.uk will be continuing to support the Campaign for Learning throughout 2012 and are already looking forward to Learning at Work Day 2013, which we hope will be an even more successful partnership.
