Our featured job of the week is for the West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS). Since their inception as a Foundation Trust in 2006, they have been at the forefront of their sector, setting the benchmark for performance and leading the way with how services can and should be delivered. They pride themselves on being an extremely well-run organisation, with a stable and committed Board supported by a hugely talented and committed workforce. This has enabled them to become the only Ambulance Trust in England on track to meet all its performance and financial targets this year.

They are now starting the process to identify their next Director of Finance and they are inviting applications from outstanding candidates who can meet their ambitions and the high standards they have set themselves. As the Executive Director of Finance you will lead the financial strategy for financial controls and planning, debtors and creditor management systems, payroll, audit, procurement, IT services and estates.

As a minimum, WMAS will be looking for an inspirational finance leader with the ability to devise and deliver a strategy across multiple directorates. You will have a track record of supporting major change projects and will have a broad knowledge of the NHS’ current transformation agenda. You will be highly commercial with the ability to innovate and problem solve, ensuring they can adapt and evolve in an ever changing, politically charged sector. The post holder will be a strategic thinker with the ability to pick up the detail when required, instilling confidence and trust from the Board.
