Volunteers' Week 2020

Volunteers’ Week started yesterday and is an annual celebration recognising the amazing contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK each year.

Earlier this year, the NHS issued a rallying call for 250,000 Volunteer Responders to help people shielding during coronavirus. Our Head of Healthcare Toni Coates and Non-Exec. Director Tina Cork are two of the many who answered that call and now check in with vulnerable people isolating at home.

For Toni it was the perfect opportunity to help the organisation that saved her life, as she says; “Only a few years ago I fell dangerously ill with Sepsis, and due to the urgent treatment and care I received through the NHS, I am thankfully alive today. This is now my opportunity give something back – it’s also a great boost to your own mental health and wellbeing to feel like you are doing something tangible and constructive to help out at this challenging time.”

Volunteers’ Week highlights how we can all contribute and make a difference, especially in view of recent events. The Finegreen team would like to give a huge round of applause to each and every volunteer and thank them for the incredible role they play in supporting their communities.
