Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Awarded ‘Best for Solo Travellers’ by Cruise Critic for Second Consecutive Year

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has been named Best for Solo Travellers at Cruise Critic UK’s 17th Annual Best in Cruise Awards for the second-year running.

The prestigious awards celebrate the best cruise lines and destinations of the year, as selected by Cruise Critic’s expert editorial team and based on reviews and ratings from its community of more than two million cruisers.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines received this accolade for its strong commitment to solo travellers. The cruise line provides individual guests with a wealth of benefits designed to make solo cruising both enjoyable and rewarding. These include exclusive solo cruise offers, dedicated single cabins, and social activities that bring like-minded guests together.

Across its fleet – Bolette, Borealis, and Balmoral – Fred. Olsen boasts 157 spacious solo cabins, including ocean-view cabins and deluxe balcony suites. Solo guests can also enjoy a variety of opportunities to connect, such as Solo Traveller meet-ups, welcome drink receptions, social strolls, mixed dining tables, and evenings of dancing with friendly dance hosts.

Doug Glenwright, Guest Experience Director at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said:
“We’re delighted to be named ‘Best for Solo Travellers’ by Cruise Critic for the second year running. We believe solo travel should never be a barrier and we work hard to make sure solo guests are welcomed onboard and treated fairly. Our goal is to give every guest the freedom to explore their way.

“We live by the saying ‘in the best of company,’ and that’s the experience we strive to create for every solo traveller. It means so much when guests tell us they feel at home onboard and praise the warm, welcoming atmosphere we’re so proud of.”

This recognition comes at a time when solo travel continues to grow in popularity, with more guests seeking enriching experiences tailored to their individual interests. Fred. Olsen’s smaller ships and intimate atmosphere offer the ideal setting for solo adventurers to explore unique destinations while enjoying the warmth and camaraderie that the cruise line is celebrated for.

Cruise Critic, the world’s largest cruise reviews and information site, offers a comprehensive resource for cruise travellers, featuring more than 50 million opinions, reviews, and photos, and hosts the world’s largest online cruise community.

Mark Patscher, General Manager of Cruise Critic, added:

“What makes Cruise Critic’s awards stand out among a sea of ‘best of’ lists is the expertise behind the selections.

“Our team of editors has sailed on hundreds of cruise ships – from the largest mega-ships to the smallest expedition vessels. We comb every corner of the globe to gather first-hand insights into a wide range of cruise offerings available to travellers. That, combined with the ratings, reviews and opinions from our community of more than two million cruisers, ensures these awards are a true gauge of which cruise lines stand out as the absolute best of the best this year.”
