Natalie Lowe and Freed of London design collaboration

Freed of London, the pioneering dance shoe company established in 1929 are taking their dance collection to new heights - and quite literally, with the launch of their new 'Lowe' shoe which features their first ever three-inch ballroom heel. Designed in collaboration with professional ballroom dancer and TV personality Natalie Lowe, key features of the shoe have been directed by Lowe herself, with the style due to launch May 23rd, 2017 at Blackpool Dance Festival.

Finally a ballroom shoe that dances with me,” Natalie Lowe celebrates the unbeatable support the style has to offer, despite its three-inch heel. “Joining forces with Freed of London to design and develop the perfect three-inch ballroom shoe has been well worth the wait. I have been wearing ballroom shoes for 34 years and nothing fits quite like the 'Lowe'. It is so elegant, stylish, comfortable and perfectly balanced. You know you’ve found the perfect shoe when you feel like you’re not even wearing any. The 'Lowe' is available in two different colours and Freed of London even takes special orders if you have something specific in mind, adding that personal finishing touch to suit your look.”

Two years spent collaborating with Freed of London has led to the creation of a pioneering ballroom style which is elegant, supportive and flexible – a perfect choice for professional and competing dancers. The style can be ordered in all sizes ranging from 2 - 8 (UK), including half sizes.

With an extensive history dating back to 1929, Freed of London remains the most iconic British dance brand worldwide. Founder, Fredrick Freed, pioneered a simple idea – to design a pointe shoe to fit a dancer’s foot, rather than the dancer's foot conforming to the very narrow offering at the time. This simple idea revolutionised dance shoe design. Fredrick and his wife went on to open their first store in Covent Garden, where they continued to design and manufacture bespoke dance shoes from their humble basement beneath the Covent Garden store. To this day, this philosophy remains, as their shoes continue to be handmade in the UK, along with a selection of dance apparel. Two-thirds of all 'Classic' pointe shoes are made to dancers specific requirements and are worn by Prima Ballerinas worldwide including Sylvie Guillem, Leanne Benjamin, Evelyn Hart, Patricia Barker and Alexandra Ferri. Freed of London also supplies most major ballet companies in the world including The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, New York City Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet, Scottish Ballet and Rambert Dance Company, to name just a few. Freed of London also regularly supply to West End and Broadway productions. Whilst featuring regularly on national UK television; Strictly Come Dancing, X Factor and Dancing on Ice, Freed of London have also appeared in films such as Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean films and Beauty and the Beast. The brand’s celebrity clientele includes Amy Winehouse, Naomi Campbell, Natalie Portman, Sheridan Smith and Patrick Swayze, to name but a few.
