GEHWOL Diabetes Report – more data, more insights

Around 70% of all amputations are performed on people with diabetes. The GEHWOL Diabetes Report addresses the issue of diabetic foot complications. That said, 5 out of 6 patients report that they are aware diabetes can cause foot problems. However, there is a gap between patients’ own assessments and those of doctors. This is because the doctors surveyed – who included not only GPs but also diabetologists and endocrinologists – state that, on average, as many as 4 in 10 patients do not pay particular attention to their feet. These and other findings on screening measures and disease awareness can be found in the GEHWOL Diabetes Report. Unlike previous reports, which reflected solely the views of doctors, this report now also includes the assessments of 500 diabetes patients.
