GEHWOL med Care Concept

There are many causes of dry foot skin: frequent showering and washing, swimming, cold weather and dry heating air, aged skin, or skin disorders such as neurodermitis and psoriasis. Dry skin becomes unpleasantly tense and loses moisture and lipids, impairing the skin barrier. This, in turn, is often the start of a cascade that results in further skin problems, such as callus, cracked skin or sensitive skin. The GEHWOL med care concept covers the various stages of problem skin with its products, providing the skin with sufficient moisture and lipids according to its needs. The product range includes: GEHWOL med Express Care Foam for basic care for normal to dry skin, GEHWOL med Lipidro Cream for intensive care for dry skin and to protect against callus, GEHWOL med Callus Cream to reduce excess callus, GEHWOL med Salve for Cracked Skin for severely callused, cracked, dry and rough skin, and GEHWOL med Sensitive for special medicinal care for sensitive, itchy or reddened skin.

Healthy skin has a natural protective shield - the skin barrier: It consists of dead skin cells (corneocytes) that are transformed by skin fats (lipids) into a compact, overlapping cell compound. Stored moisture lends the skin barrier elasticity and resilience. If the skin lacks these important lipids, the barrier loosens and becomes permeable. Consequently, the moisture that is bound between the callus cells can escape. The skin dehydrates and loses its elasticity and resistance due to the absent moisture buffer.

The skin compensates a lack of elasticity by becoming more rigid. More callus cells are produced when there is pressure. The excess callus is an attempt to relieve pressure. But if the skin dehydrates further and the pressure load continues, the now barely elastic callus may finally tear. If the skin barrier is cracked, bacteria, allergens and fungi can spread unhindered through these cracks (fissures, rhagades) into deeper skin layers. The immune system is activated, and inflammation may develop, along with the symptoms of sensitive skin: Redness, itching and burning skin.

Problem skin needs a concept

The various stages need care products that match the respective problem situation. For example, the GEHWOL med care concept has two products for the problem stage of "dry skin": GEHWOL med Express Foam with its quadruple hydrocomplex of evening primrose oil, urea, moor plant extract and avocado oil is suitable for rapid skin moisture care (basic care and in between). This care foam is rapidly absorbed and non-greasy. The formulation is free of parabens, scents, silicone, and PEG emulsifiers.

The unscented GEHWOL med Lipidro Cream provides lasting, intensive care for dry to very dry skin, ensuring a balanced lipid and moisture balance. Urea and algae extract bind water in the deeper skin layers. Sea buckthorn and avocado oils strengthen the skin barrier, improving the skin's moisture retention properties with their high share of unsaturated fatty acids. Allantoin, a component in horse chestnuts, regenerates the skin and strengthens its protective functions. Farnesol is antibacterial and deodorises. At the same time, the cream protects against excess callus formation. A study with type 2 diabetics yielded new results on the effects of GEHWOL med Lipidro Cream. With regular use, it improves skin moisturisation and improves the skin's barrier properties without unwanted occlusion - which means that its thermostability and natural transpiration are maintained. It was also found for the first time that this cream positively affects the microcirculation: Accordingly, using the cream improves blood circulation (flow) through the skin, which is a significant benefit especially in diabetics or people with dry skin due to microangiopathy. Another result: GEHWOL med Lipidro Cream does not alter the microbial spectrum between the toes. It is therefore suitable for use in this sensitive zone.

Problem stages of callus and cracks

GEHWOL med Callus Cream is suitable for removing excess callus. Its care complex with urea, glycerine, allantoin and avocado oil loosens up the cell compounds of the hard callus layers. This allows mechanical friction in socks and shoes to wear down dead skin cells. The callus cream moisturises, improves elasticity, and reduces callus intensity within a few days. With regular use, the skin can reach its normal state in 28 days. To protect against new callus formation, regular care with GEHWOL med Lipidro Cream is recommended afterwards. This callus cream contains no silicones and PEG emulsifiers.

Recommended for severely callused, cracked skin: GEHWOL med Salve for Cracked Skin. It contains a base of medicinal special soap and lanolin. This salve forms a fatty protective film and supports regeneration in cracked skin areas. It restores the skin's natural elasticity and resistance. Anti-inflammatory bisabolol and skin-soothing panthenol protect sensitive skin areas on the heels and pads of the feet. The salve is effective without silicones, parabens, or PEG emulsifiers.

Empathy for sensitive skin

GEHWOL med Sensitive nourishes sensitive skin with its triple active protection. The cream protects the natural skin barrier with skin-identical ceramides and almond oil. It moisturizes the skin and enriches it with lipids (fats). This is how the product stabilizes the skin's resistance. Highly purified, nano-free microsilver (MicroSilver BGTM) regenerates the skin's microflora. The silver forms deposits in the skin relief without penetrating the skin. The Sensitive formula protects against symptoms and infections. The cream counteracts the excessive spread of bacteria, fungi, and microbes. It relieves itching and burning skin and reduces redness. GEHWOL med Sensitive is also suitable for therapy-supporting care in neurodermitis, foot and nail fungus. The formulation contains no parabens, scents, PEG emulsifiers or silicone oils. Both GEHWOL med Sensitive and the other products of the GEHWOL med care concept are suitable for use by diabetics.
