One business that has gone the extra mile is Go North East, which has wrapped one of its buses with Durham 2025 branding. Featuring bright colours and an eye-catching design, the bus will help to spread the word about the bid across County Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle.
Go North East bus drivers from the company’s Deptford depot in Sunderland recently visited Donwell House Care Home in Washington to say thank you to one of its most well-known customers.

To celebrate English Tourism Week, Go North East has announced the return of the popular Toon Tour open-top sightseeing bus from Saturday 9 April. The service will run every weekend, bank holiday and during school holidays from Saturday 9 April until Friday 27 May, then daily from Saturday 28 May until Sunday 4 September. It will then return for four further days on 17, 18, 24 and 25 September.
Go North East, the region’s largest bus operator, has repainted one of its modern, low-emission Euro 6, double-decker buses in a special livery to commemorate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year.
Go North East brought the gold back from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Annual Awards for Excellence on Thursday night, fighting off stiff competition from fellow finalists Transport for London and Reading Buses to win the award for Passenger Transport Excellence.
