A major recruitment drive is underway at the region's largest bus operator Go North East, as it looks to recruit 100 new bus drivers over the coming weeks, as a result of new service patterns, contract wins and staff turnover.

Service changes from 3 September
We will be making some permanent and temporary changes to help provide a more reliable service, and remove the need for daily cancellations.

Kids go free with Go North East this summer
From Saturday 23 July until Sunday 4 September, up to three children aged 11 or under can travel for free on any Go North East service, all day, every day when accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.
Metro ticket acceptance on bus services in North Tyneside from 16 July
From Saturday 16 July to Friday 29 July, no trains will run in either direction between St James and Tynemouth. This is to allow the complete removal and replacement of Tanner Bank bridge, as well as vegetation and overhead power line work.
