Australia’s Unique Renewable Energy Strategy
Whilst Australia’s economy may be better known for its mining and extractive industries, the Australian Government has nonetheless embarked on one of the most ambitious renewable energy strategies in the world. It has an entire Government department – called the Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency – devoted to promoting the use of renewable energy, and it has backed that up with a commitment to produce 20% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020 through its Renewable Energy Target scheme (RET). That kind of support from Governments is critical to promoting the transition to renewable energy. Luckily, GreenWorld (BVI) is well placed to benefit from the Australian mandate with our unique green electricity project located in the Australian State of Queensland.
