Britain's Most Under the Thumb Man Found on Valentine's Day

After a search that has been underway for the past 6 weeks, “Britain’s Most Under the Thumb Man 2012” was revealed on Valentine’s Day to be Mike Jeffries of Eastbourne. The Stag Company, the UK’s leading provider of the stag do ritual in the UK and EU has been seeking nominations since the turn of the year and when they received Andy Pottinger’s submission for Mike Jeffries, the result was never in doubt. Teaming up with Zoo Magazine, The Stag Company received thousands of entries from men who felt that their best friend was kept under lock and key by his other half.

Mike’s case was strong from the outset with the reasons cited including sitting down to urinate so his girlfriend didn’t have to put the seat down, not being able to go out the night before a night out as it’s their “last night together” and even being forced to wear welly-style leather boots, just because Arg from The Only Way is Essex wears them. He also proposed to his girlfriend on the Eiffel Tower because she made him after seeing the people in front of them do it.

The Stag Company provided Mike with a lad’s weekend in Newcastle with 5 of his friends and also sent his girlfriend on a spa weekend to Bournemouth as a first step to rehabilitating the inequities of their relationship.

Jeffries said: “I was pretty shocked to hear about my nomination. My initial reaction was to kill Andy, but I’d have to say the majority of what he said is pretty fair.

“My girlfriend wasn’t overly happy about it, I must admit, and when she heard about the prize of a lads’ weekend that included visiting strip clubs, she flipped out – I’m in the doghouse now.”

Jeffries unsurprisingly, spent his Valentine's day doting upon his other half, as he tells us:

In the end I had a romantic meal with the missus, her sister and her partner. Full works: candles, rosé glasses and bux fizz. To end the night we started to watch series 3 of Gossip Girl, which I bought for her,

"In my defence there is some real sorts in that programme. I did buy the other half one rose, but got told that wasn’t enough and a bunch is what she wanted."
