Valentine’s Day Charity eCard and Natural Beekeeping
It is common knowledge that February the 14th is Valentine’s Day. It is also common knowledge that each year we send Valentine’s Day cards, greetings and gifts to our spouses and other significant people in our life. One thing that is not common knowledge about St Valentine, the patron saint of love, lovers and Valentine’s Day is that he is also the patron saint of beekeepers.
According to Hope Spring water charity trustee and natural beekeeper, Temi Odurinde “St Valentine is charged with ensuring that honey is sweet and the protection of beekeepers, according to legends. So I urge people who want to send an eCard or a present to their sweetheart to send a Hope Spring eCard. Sending a Hope Spring eCard is basically two items in one; you send a Valentine greeting, the donation you made in the process is a gift”,
Valentine’s ecard is one of the ecards offered by Hope Spring eCards platform. The donations made by people sending ecards on their platform goes into funding clean water projects across West African communities that lack access to clean water.
Patron saint of love and bees
The connection between St Valentine, the patron saint of love and beekeepers may not be widely known. The sweetness of honey and the warm sweet sensation connected with the affairs of the heart, which leads many to send Valentine’s day ecards and gifts is well known.
To connect and celebrate love, romance and relationship with the craft of beekeeping, with it's sweet by-product Honey; both are already united by a single patron saint, St Valentine. Hope Spring trustee and beekeeper, Temi Odurinde promised to donate all proceeds from the sale of his Natural Beekeeping book on the 14th of February to Hope Spring water charity.
Another interesting connection between Valentine’s Day and beekeeping is that the beekeeping calendar starts in spring, when the bees emerge from their winter hibernation. Love, romance and relationships are of course celebrated on February the 14, when the hint of spring is beginning to show itself.

Hope Spring Water charity’s ecard website was set up, so that its users can send donation ecards to their family, friends or colleagues and donate what it would have cost them to send a traditional printed card to Hope Spring.
