GovCamp 2012 preview

It’s that time of year again! GovCamp takes place every January and brings together people with a common interest, in the way technology is being used to improve and deliver public sector services.  Huddle has been a proud sponsor of GovCamp for the past few years and we’ll be supporting the event once again this year.

For the first time, GovCamp will be a two-day spectacular taking place in central London.  Friday 20 January will be the traditional ‘unconference’ where attendees can talk about whatever interests them.  Saturday 21 January will have a focus on getting things done; training, hands-on, creating cool stuff, but with improving how government works and delivers services at its very heart.

This year, I’m really looking forward to hearing more about the innovative work going on at public sector organisations around the country and what the newly-formed Government Digital Service is up to.  I’m sure there will also be plenty of talk and excitement about G-Cloud and what it will change for government, and the way it embraces cloud services.

If you have an interest in how government uses technology then get along to GovCamp.  Civil servants often get a bad rep in the media and seeing people who have a passion for government and technology come together to embrace new ways of doing things for public service is truly inspiring.
