Don't Miss! Christian Toksvig, VP of Business Development at Getty Images speaking at the Digital Marketing Show

Session 1

26th November: 11.00 - 11.30am at The Social Theatre: Fair Play in Social Media

Fair play in social media

The world is becoming more and more visual. Photo capturing and sharing are rapidly becoming an integral part of how we communicate with each other, as essential as the telephone or email. While the increase in sharing of content helps us communicate better, it also raises complicated questions about privacy and copyright. For example, YouTube was a hotbed of video piracy until Google made deals that secured proper attribution and a cut of advertising revenues for copyright owners.

Like YouTube, content sharing platforms such as Tumblr, Facebook and Pinterest let users post content that may violate the copyright of its owners, for example individual photographers or media publishers. Getty Images is developing a technology to solve this problem, and ensure fair compensation for copyright owners, unlimited enjoyment for users, and business value for social media platforms. We call this playing fair in social media.

Session 2

28th November: 1.30 - 2pm at the Like Minds Conference: We Live in a Visual World

We live in a visual world.

We take and share more images and videos than ever before and the nature of photography is changing from creating a memory to sharing a here-and-now experience.

Everyone is now a photographer, and a publisher. This fragmentation of how content is produced and distributed presents challenges for marketers wishing to get their messages across to an audience. One of the best ways of doing so is harnessing the power of the crowd to create and distribute branded content. This presentation puts the development of the visual world in context and shows examples of great crowd sourced content marketing.
