Press release -

Volcanic Ash Travel Insurance

Many insurers are not meeting claims related to the volcanic ash from Iceland.

This means many travellers have been left with bills to pay for accommodation and other costs that cannot be claimed from their insurance.

It's So Easy Travel Insurance provides a policy that will include trip delay and abandonment cover even if related to the volcanic ash. However, a policy must have been purchased before the announcement of the closure of the airport to which someone was travelling to or from and any ban on airspace in which they were due to fly.

In the case of delayed departure, a claim can be made for each block of 12 hours' delay.

If someone is delayed for longer than 24 hours, the trip can be abandoned. In that case, the limit covered under the Cancellation section will apply (£3,000 or £5,000 per person, depending on the type of policy purchased). Although airlines should refund air fares if they cancel a flight, there could be many other costs incurred that would, otherwise, be irrecoverable. These could include accommodation, the costs of a cruise, care hire etc.

The policy can also include many pre-existing medical conditions.

It's So Easy Travel Insurance was highlighted on BBC Radio 4's You and Yours programme on 31 May as a provider of travel insurance that provides volcanic ash-related cover.

The policy can be booked online and, in the case of someone having a medical condition, there is also an online medical screening system.
