JYSK Bradford's new store manager sings Scandi style

JYSK Bradford’s new manager David Padgett was singing the praises of the Scandi-style retailer when the store opened to the public on Saturday, 29th June.

For the Bradford-born 30-year-old, who became one of the country’s youngest retail managers at the age of 17, is also a professional singer and DJ.

But he’s gladly swapped the warm climes and party atmosphere of Ibiza – his last workplace – to come home to his beloved Bradford and a top job at the super new JYSK store at the Phoenix Retail Park.

And he’s very much in tune with the brand, saying: “I felt like breaking out into song, when I heard I’d got the job. Retail has been in my blood from an early age and JYSK is such a great company to work for. It’s a huge brand and it’s bucking the trend by expanding. It’s fantastic to be at the helm of one of the stores of such a go-ahead organisation.”

David, who loves a bit of Motown, says he’ll be throwing his heart and soul into the role. “I love the style, the people, the customer focus. It’s exactly what I wanted. JYSK offers an all-in-one shop, you can literally kit out your house and garden in one shopping trip.

“JYSK is just what Bradford needs. It’s brand new and prices and quality are both amazing.”

A Bradford City fan, David was excited to hear that members of his team would be taking part in a VIP preview event at the store to raise money for charity, on June 28.

His appointment is proof, if any was needed, that JYSK has talent!

UK Country Manager for JYSK, David Ashton, said: “I am looking forward to seeing David create a strong team of JYSK staff that are ready to deliver fantastic customer service every day for the people of Bradford.

“For some time Bradford has been high on the target list for a JYSK store in the UK. Bradford is thriving as a retail destination compared with the challenges faced elsewhere in the UK. We believe Phoenix Retail Park to be one of the strongest retail parks at the moment.

“Local people should be proud of that and continue to support retail within the area. We are bringing an international retailer, with 40 years’ experience in more than 50 countries; great offers and great items every day.”
