JYSK PARTNERS FOR DRESS-TO-IMPRESS OLDHAM INITIATIVE

New-in-town Scandi furniture store JYSK, which opens its Oldham store on Saturday 7th March at the town’s Alexandra Retail Park at 9am, partnered Get Oldham Working to recruit its local sales team.

G.O.W helped identify suitable candidates and offered its offices as a base for the global furniture brand to conduct interviews which resulted in seven of the 10 new jobs going to Oldham people.

As a thank you JYSK donated more than £500 of furniture for a new G.O.W. project called Working Wardrobe with JYSK staff members topping up the gift with donations of clothing.

JYSK UK HR Manager Dawn Howe, who led the recruitment drive, said: “It was great to work with James Ogborn and the team at Get Oldham Working. They welcomed us into the community and provided us with space to use for interviews and some great candidates for our store positions.

“I am really excited about the working wardrobe project and think this is a fantastic initiative for local businesses to get behind. JYSK was more than happy to donate some of our furniture and our staff also wanted to help by donating clothing suitable for jobseekers to wear to an interview.”

The working wardrobe project opens in May 2020 in Oldham and has been set up to support jobseekers. It offers a full interview preparation package, including clothes, stylist and interview practice. The initiative is in partnership with GMCA and will serve Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside residents. It is led by Oldham Council as part of the Get Oldham Working programme.

JYSK Oldham will offer prices of up to 75% off during its Grand Opening celebrations. Customers are advised to get to the store early on opening day to make the most of the best of the ‘when they’re gone they’re gone’ offers.
