Press release -

RETAIL RECORD BREAKER FOR JYSK OLDHAM

Scandi furniture brand JYSK broke all previous UK records for a store opening when its new Oldham store opened its doors on Saturday (March 7th) at Alexandra Retail Park.

The store welcomed almost 1,600 customers at the tills and queues stretched into the car park as the store counted down to its 9am opening.

Oldham’s new JYSK smashed previous record-holder St Helens’ store opening record, almost doubling the brand’s top-performing store debut.

JYSK has a tradition of saying a big Hello to new customers with prices of up to 75% off running for a full week after opening celebrations, so Oldham still has plenty of chances to snaffle superb Scandi style at an incredible price – right through until Sunday March 15.

David Ashton, UK Country Manager for JYSK, said: “Oldham was just the best day, days like that remind you why you love being in retail and certainly there is still a huge place for ‘Bricks and Mortar’ retailing. We recruited locally, we’ve got some great staff on board, presented incredibly tempting offers and the town just responded. The Oldham team worked so hard to get the store ready in time for this opening and were proud to see their store first to unveil JYSK’s UK garden range for 2020. It was a fun day, and, despite the queues, everyone was in Great Spirit.

“I knew we would have a really good opening, but the people in Oldham did turn out for us – what a welcome!”
