SCANDINAVIAN WAVE CONTINUES TO ROCK UK RETAIL BOAT JYSK OLDHAM OPENS SPRING 2020 – CREATING 10 NEW JOBS

JYSK, the Scandinavian-owned multi-billion Euro furniture brand, has announced it will open in Oldham in Spring 2020.

The group has been breaking sales records in the UK and early last year unveiled expansion plans to match. UK store numbers reached 19 in 2019 with a target that will take the brand to 54 in the next four years.

Now it has turned its focus on Oldham, a town which has long been on its ‘want’ list, and JYSK will be looking to recruit the best talent to staff its new store which will create around 10 new jobs.

Country Manager for JYSK, David Ashton, said: “We’ve had our eye on Oldham for quite some time, just waiting for the right location to become available. We have it now and we are ready to begin work on creating yet another of our new-generation Concept 3.0 stores at Alexandra Retail Park, Park Road, Oldham.

“As ever, we like to do things a little differently at JYSK. We want the cream of Oldham applying to work with us and, in return, we’ll help deliver the ambition. So we want to hear from anyone with a great attitude, great personality and a willingness to help people. The first step is to apply at careers.jysk.co.uk and upload a short CV. The next stage sees candidates receive two video questions to answer. That’s instead of a preliminary face to face interview. It speeds up the process and saves them having to come to us - and it can be done whenever and wherever they like!

“We are interested in employing local people; developing their skills and helping them achieve their ambitions. And if they have never worked in retail, that’s fine. We can train for that.”

The store is likely to open in the first weeks of March.
