Taking our passengers on a culinary journey

By Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director

The £110m development currently underway at the airport isn’t just about transforming the terminal and transport links, it’s about transforming the experience for passengers; we want to make sure that people have the best possible journey from the moment they set foot in the airport.

That is why we’re doubling the retail space in our new departure lounge to offer an exciting range of shopping and dining options.

The extra 3,100 sq meters will provide space for an additional 13 bars and restaurants, which will see family restaurants, sustainable fast food and champagne bars setting up shop at the airport.

We have chosen a zonal approach for the outlets to ensure we are offering the range of brands that provide the best fit for our diverse and discerning mix of passengers. This is why you’ll soon find something for everyone; from the family-friendly Italian dining experience offered by Bella Italia, to the healthy and sustainable fast food options provided by Friska.

There are also plenty of drinking options to suit all moods, from the relaxed surroundings of Humphrey’s bar, including an outdoor terrace, to the chic and sophisticated sparkling wine bar, Dubl. And if you want one last taste of home before jetting off abroad there’s the traditional English pub, Smithfield.

Amongst these exciting news options we’ve not forgotten our long-standing brands who have proved to be firm favourites with passengers. We’ll be providing new and expanded premises for Frankie and Benny’s, Pret a Manger, Krispy Kreme, Starbucks and Benugo.

We know that a holiday or business trip starts in the airport and we hope the new diverse range of places to eat, drink, relax or have fun will help achieve just that.
