Welcome to our blog - Transforming LLA

We’re investing over £110million to ensure LLA offers a world class service for passengers and is fully integrated with London’s rail and road transport networks. A wide range of people from the airport, our partners and local community will be contributing blogs; the updates will explain what we’re doing, when we’re doing it and, most importantly, how the changes will benefit both passengers and the wider airport community, including residents and local businesses.

Now is undoubtedly the most exciting moment in our 78 year history. Passenger demand in the UK and South East is rising rapidly: LLA saw passenger numbers increase by 17% in 2015. When the Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin, officially ‘broke ground’ at the airport in January he said our transformation will add to the UK’s reputation for world class aviation infrastructure.

We plan to live up to that billing. We are currently the only London airport with approved expansion plans; we will grow annual capacity by 50% in the next four years, to 18 million passengers per year.

By acting now, we will ensure passengers have the widest choice of destinations, be it for business or pleasure, and enjoy the best possible experience. Not only that, but the investment will also allow us to help relieve pressure on airport capacity in the South East, as well as to create jobs and opportunities for people throughout the local area.
