​London Luton Airport lays on Burns Night surprise

London Luton Airport has surprised a group of passengers with a wee Burns Night celebration. Passengers arriving on board the easyJet flight from Inverness this afternoon were met with a traditional Scottish Piper, who played for passengers as they disembarked. Inside the terminal passengers were treated to Burns Night inspired canapés including Haggis and Scottish smoked salmon.

Clare Armstrong, Head of Passenger Services at London Luton Airport said: “Given that Burns Night is such a special celebration in Scotland, we thought it would be nice to bring a little bit of Burns Night to London Luton Airport for those passengers that couldn’t be there for the big day. It’s been great to spread a wee bit of cheer after a routine flight and see the positive reaction from passengers”.

It was also a special moment for the piper, Craig Cairns from Bedfordshire, a member of the Bedford Pipe Band and the Police Emerald Society Pipe Band. He’s worked as easyJet cabin crew at London Luton Airport for the past five years and was delighted to play in a familiar location. “It was a real honour to play for our passengers and my colleagues at the airport. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and it was great to delight our passengers".
