London Luton Airport records 11.4% growth in passengers and continues to welcome new routes
The Airport has already confirmed 14 new routes for 2015, with four taking flight in as many days last month. From 24th – 27th April, aircraft departed on new routes to New York, Porto, Antalya and Waterford; the flights were operated by La Compagnie, easyJet and VLM respectively.
LLA is now building for the future, embarking on a £100 million redevelopment and investment programme to transform the Airport. The project will increase annual capacity from 12 million to 18 million passengers per year by 2026, as well as delivering major upgrades to the Airport’s facilities, including:
Nick Barton, CEO of LLA, said: “LLA has now recorded over a year of consistent monthly growth in passenger numbers as people increasingly choose to fly from the Airport. Just this month we have added four new routes, and look forward to introducing even more as the Airport expands during out £100 million investment programme.”
