Increase of over 100,000 passengers travelling in April 2015 compared to last year

Four new routes launched in four days as £100 million transformation begins

London Luton Airport (LLA) has recorded an 11.4% increase in passenger numbers during April 2015 compared to the same month last year, with 991,110 passengers choosing to fly from the Airport. This marks the 13th consecutive month of growth in passenger numbers at LLA.

The Airport has already confirmed 14 new routes for 2015, with four taking flight in as many days last month. From 24th – 27th April, aircraft departed on new routes to New York, Porto, Antalya and Waterford; the flights were operated by La Compagnie, easyJet and VLM respectively.

LLA is now building for the future, embarking on a £100 million redevelopment and investment programme to transform the Airport. The project will increase annual capacity from 12 million to 18 million passengers per year by 2026, as well as delivering major upgrades to the Airport’s facilities, including:

A complete redesign of the terminal to create a quick, efficient, friendly and convenient passenger experience.

Doubling existing retail space and the development of a new world-class executive lounge.

Major upgrades to transport links, including better road access to the M1, new car parking facilities, a remodelled bus and coach interchange and improved rail links.
