Lindab simplifies fire regulation compliance
18 August 2020
Working on a high-rise project? Lindab steel rainwater systems are ideal for multi-storey applications.
Fire safety is more important than ever, particularly when designing multi-storey projects.
Steel drain pipes are an ideal low-cost solution that simplify compliance to new regulations which limit the use of plastic.
Recent amendments made to the Building Regulations ban the use of combustible materials in the external walls of buildings over 18m.
The amendments require that all materials which become part of an external wall, or specified attachments, achieve European Class A2-s1, d0 or Class A1.
This means plastic pipes are no longer suitable for rainwater drainage on most multi-storey projects.
Class A1 Compliant
Lindab Magestic, galvanised steel rainwater system, is classified to Eurocode classes A1 and A1FL for fire hazards. Lindab Rainline, coated steel rainwater system, is classified to Eurocode class A2-s1, d0 and is available in a range of colours.
These high fire-safety ratings mean both systems are compliant with the new guidance and, as the lowest priced metal option, steel is the simple solution to meet the demands of raising the standards for high-rise buildings without raising the budget.
