Broad spectrum of innovation experts to speak at Active London 2019

Experts from the Greater London Authority, Blockworks, YouTube, Two Circles, The Active Wellbeing Society, British Cycling and Sport England will all be speaking at London Sport’s Active London event, it was announced today (Wednesday 21 August).

More than 30 specialists on topics as diverse as technology, homelessness, disability and inclusion, environment, digital marketing and esports will come together in the capital on 10 September to explore the ways that innovation can inspire and inform efforts to increase participation in physical activity and sport across London.

With Active London expected to bring together hundreds of representatives from the physical activity and sport sector, a limited numbers of tickets remain available from the London Sport website from just £55 with group discounts available for the first time this year.

Active London will kick-off with a look at International Innovation with Managing Director of Blockworks James Delaney appearing alongside London Sport’s Director of Insight, Technology and Data Tim Copley.

The opening session will be followed by an introduction from the Greater London Authority to the role of innovation in landing the Mayor of London’s Sport and Physical Activity Strategy, before a panel chaired by Two Circles Chairman, Matt Rogan, and featuring representatives of The Active Wellbeing SocietyFree Your Instinct and Single Homeless Project conclude the morning with a panel discussion tackling local innovation approaches.

The afternoon at Active London will see the delivery of four separate workshop tracks that take an in-depth view into a quartet of areas at the cutting-edge of innovation for physical activity and sport.

Speakers from StreetGymUK WallBallEssex CricketTennis Factory and Street Space will be just some of the professionals looking at Innovation in an Urban Environment.

Meanwhile, Karen Creavin from The Active Wellbeing Society and Yorkshire Sport’s Kathryn Mudge will be teaming up alongside consultant Phil Veasey to delve into Community-based Innovation.

In the Driving Innovation through Technology workshop, representatives of YouTubeHackney LacesSauceCast DigitalLDN UTD and Fnatic will be offering their expertise on esports and digital storytelling.

Finally, London Sport and Sport England will combine to deliver Insight-led Innovation focusing on research segmentation of less active people and digital marketing through Facebook.
