Jessica Creighton to host London Sport Awards 2019

A brand new face will lead proceedings at the London Sport Awards as broadcaster and journalist Jessica Creighton was named as host of the event today.

Jessica will take the baton on from fellow Sky Sports News broadcaster David Garrido who has hosted the London Sport Awards for the previous three years.

The Awards, which this year is being held at Twickenham Stadium, celebrate the very best of grassroots sport and physical activity in London annually.

London Sport received more than 300 nominations for the eight Awards categories this year with 24 shortlisted nominees in the running for eight trophies at the ceremony on 14 March.

Jessica will be guiding the 400 guests through the Awards ceremony with her knowledgeable and enthusiastic style which viewers to BBC Sport and Sky Sports News will be well accustomed.

London Sport Events Manager Rachel Rowe said:

“David has been a fantastic host for the previous three years, but we’re excited to see what fresh prospective Jessica brings to our first London Sport Awards at Twickenham Stadium.”

Who is Jessica Creighton?

Jessica has worked at some of the biggest sporting events on the globe, with some of the world’s most prestigious broadcasters.

She began her career as a BBC trainee before promotion to Olympic Sports Reporter ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games and was a live reporter four years later in Rio.

Over the past 10 years she’s reported live from three Olympic Games and a Commonwealth Games, building her reputation as a knowledgeable, engaging and dynamic broadcaster.

She has presented for national BBC TV and radio, BT Sport and most recently Sky Sports – Jessica currently anchors Sky Sports News’ daily coverage.

Jessica played Charlton Athletic Women for a number of years and has always been passionate about sport. The England call-up though never materialised so she focussed on talking about sport.

She has covered everything from archery to wrestling during her career and is also keen on highlighting the issues surrounding inequality in sport.
