Publication of Mayor’s Sport Strategy signals bright future for physical activity in London

The strategy, which was first launched for consultation in the summer, is built on an ambition to highlight the importance of sport in breaking down barriers and building stronger communities across the capital.

As part of the strategy, the Mayor has committed an £8.8m fund which will support projects that use sport to boost social integration, increase participation, and deliver physical and mental wellbeing benefits to Londoners of all backgrounds and communities.

London Sport will work closely with the Mayor of London, Debbie Weekes-Bernard, Deputy Mayor for Social Integration, Social Mobility and Community Engagement, and the Mayor’s sport team to help deliver the new Sport Strategy and continue supporting efforts to deliver London Sport’s vision of making London the most physically active city in the world.

London Sport had previously recognised the draft strategy as presenting a bold ambition for the future of physical activity and sport in London.
