Press release —
Magma’s Vietnamese ceramic manufacturing facility opens for business
Magma Ceramics & Catalysts is delighted to announce the successful commissioning of its new ceramic manufacturing facility in Vietnam, which is now open for business.
The new 6000m2 facility is located between Hanoi and North Vietnam’s main international sea port, Haiphong and is intended to strengthen the company’s capabilities in the manufacture of refractory ceramic products used in the glass, alloy and steel industries. The facility will also act as a platform for growth in the South East Asia market, and is strategically located to take advantage of Vietnam’s burgeoning petrochemical industry.
A new General Manager, David Collinge, has been appointed to oversee operations at the new facility. David joins Magma at an exciting time, taking up the role from mid-April 2014. He brings significant regional, technical and commercial ceramic manufacturing experience to the company.
Over the last 4 years, Magma Ceramics & Catalysts has focussed jointly on process improvement and substantive customer focused growth of at least 50% per year. In addition, Magma has expanded its ceramic production process knowledge into the area of catalyst technology, establishing a catalyst development facility in Sheffield and manufacturing facilities in Brazil, in addition to the roll out of both ceramic and catalyst production across all sites. The combination of a high degree of production process knowledge with this technology supports the Magma’s growth ambitions. Magma has a pipeline of new products and market opportunities supporting continued high growth in both areas of the business. The timing of the Vietnamese facility going live and Magma’s recently announced joint venture with Morgan Advanced Materials further facilitates the rapid growth potential of the company.
Magma Ceramics & Catalysts Managing Director, Mark Stuckey, said: “I'd like to welcome David Collinge to Magma’s team - his skills and experience are a very welcome addition to the company. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, past, present and future, for their support to date - we look forward to supporting you into the future.”
