Celebrating Motherhood. Artist Mas.s is challenging today's party political views on society.

Mas.s, the Original Dutch artist, touches in this painting upon the mysterious bond between mother and child. He says "They are intimately united", at birth both man and women are united in this monumental happening. Man often forget this breathgiving moment in life, quickly caught up in the manly world of testosterone. This is essential in today's troubled society. Politicians should rethink fundamentals.

The moment that new life is calling, the mothers whole system changes, all energy, mental and emotional focus is devoted from the world towards the new life in her womb. The world and its importance seem to have lost its edge completely. He says "With my good wife I knew exactly when she became pregnant and after a few weeks I just said "we'll meet again after birth". They are so different, like their floating of to deep space nine, I loved the spectacle and I took lesson from that. The same seemed to happen with many other mothers. I started thinking about this and observed that this change in behaviour and intimate bond never goes away. It gives mothers the opportunity to act completely to the opposite of reasoning. They have an incredible capacity to absorb physical and mental pain to protect this bond. Even if children turn on them. They have this mysterious trust that it will be alright. Unfortunately this testosterone led society gives less and less room to nurture this mysterious and loving bond. Both mother and child are becoming more and more isolated, also from eachother. It is unwillfully undermined and manipulated, he feels.

Mas.s likes to depict these essential themes in one's life. He calls it "concentrated thought" or "essentialism". He says, "Motherhood is there to stay, it does not go away. It can be undermined, manipulated, its essentials rewritten but the facts of this mysterious bond can not be changed, they are intimately united.  Mother and child are one of heart and being fed and nurtured by their mysterious and bond of love, that is what I have painted." So why call for a Political rethink?

"Social cohesion and care stem from this fundamental truth. Today we are called to take care of our elderly, our children, the vulnerable  and our sick more and more. This is because individualism has proven to be a to costly and economic utopia. Why not go to the very core of social behaviour and priorities, why not start to raise, praise and nurture this mysterious bond.  Prioritise these essential facts by politics. If I hear all these people of good will at party political conferences, I see in their eyes that they do not really believe in what they are saying. They look lost. I think that they have become experts in fighting the symptoms. Going past the true causes of today's fragmentation and disintegration of society. I say that driving on with raw spirit and power is just not good enough if you are barking under the wrong tree or charging down the wrong road. Energy backed by money becomes empty and futile at the end of the day.

He finishes "Celebrating motherhood is celebrating life. Celebrating the bond between mother and child is celebrating solidarity and social cohesion. Let's get things into perspective."

Mas.s has dedicated his life to artistic expression. "Art is all about stirring the soul" . He paints landscapes, portraits in his unique style and beauty and he loves bringing colour, light, love and positiveness into the world of art,  but his heart is deeply stirred by these concentrated thoughts and essentialism.
