Almost 3000 people download #Here2Help app in one week

​Since its official launch on 12 February the #Here2Help app figures have soared to almost 3000 downloads.

The strong response comes after the roadshow, held in Ballymena North, which saw almost 1000 people in attendance.

The event marked the official launch of the #Here2Help app which offers a range of services and support available to anyone in crisis.

The app, which was created by Noel McKee, and developed by East Antrim Counselling and Ownies Bar was originally launched in 2014 and updated last year.

Since the roadshow, downloads of the app have rocketed to 2996.

Those attending the event heard hard-hitting stories from people who have been directly affected by drugs and mental health issues.

Alderman John Carson, Chair of Mid and East Antrim Policing and Community Safety Partnership said the event was a huge success and the app was a step in the right direction in “saving lives”.

“I would like to congratulate all those who were involved in the #Here2Help roadshow event.

“I have had a lot of positive feedback and if it helps to save one life then it has been a success.

“I am delighted to hear that so many people have downloaded the app and I hope it helps people get the support when they need it most.

“It allows people to have the information at their fingertips when they need it most.

“This borough has been directly affected by some of these issues and as a Partnership we want to re-assure the community that we will do whatever we can.”

Mid and East Antrim Engagement Chief Inspector William Calderwood added: “We are delighted to see so many people are downloading the app.

“Even if you think you are in a good place now and don’t need help, it’s useful to have it on your phone so that in times of crisis you have help at hand.”
