Calling all the grown-ups! Book your spot for World Book Day at Larne Museum

​Larne Museum and Arts Centre will be celebrating all things literary from authors, books and reading for World Book Day on Thursday 5 March.

As part of the literary festivities, the museum and arts centre have arranged school workshops with local storyteller Billy Teare who will be bringing a little bit of magic along with his many stories.

Inspired by CS Lewis’ quote “Someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again” the organisers have also planned an evening of entertainment aimed at grownups.

The event will feature a special literary quiz hosted by compere Mark Haggan. 

Mark will be joined by three local authors Stephen Gordon, Angeline King and Roland Spottiswoode who will be reading from their work in between quiz rounds.

As with any good World Book Day event Larne Museum is encouraging everyone to dress up as their favourite character with an award for the best dressed.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Maureen Morrow, said: “Reading for pleasure has many benefits promoting creativity, relaxation, improved communication and benefits to mental health.

“It is fantastic to see Larne Museum and Arts Centre promote World Book Day especially as it was a much loved library in Larne for many years.”

This is a free event which must be booked in advance and includes a supper. Teams for the quiz should have a minimum of two people per team.
