Carnfunnock shines with Best Family Park gold star award

2019 looks set to be another successful year for Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Carnfunnock Country Park after it was announced as the winner of the Best Family Park award at the recent Families First NI Awards at Bangor’s Clandeboye Lodge Hotel on Saturday night.

The Families First NI Awards seek to recognise and honour those individuals and businesses who make family life that little bit easier or more special. Categories at last Saturday night’s awards included; Best Customer Service for Kids and Families, Best Family Business, Best Business Supporting Childcare, Women in Business, Amazing Woman in Education and Amazing Man in Education.

The Country Park was also selected as a finalist in the Best Family Fun and Entertainment category.

The outgoing Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr Lindsay Millar, said that she was delighted to see Carnfunnock Country Park and its staff recognised at the Awards, “Carnfunnock Country Park is a fantastic place to visit which offers so much for local residents and tourists alike.

“Set just off the beautiful Antrim Coast Road it offers a great low-cost family day out. The park boasts a great play area and space for picnics and barbecues. With fantastic views towards Scotland, it offers a wealth of wonderful walks to suit the whole family.

“Visitors can also avail of the on-site driving range, enjoy a well-earned treat in Parklands Café, get glitter tattoos or hair wraps at Facetastic or enjoy crazy golf and other rides in the Family Fun Zone.

“I look forward to seeing plans for the further development of the park come to fruition in years to come. The master plan for the site sets out a number of ambitious proposals to develop the site over the next 10-15 years and I look forward to seeing the park offering expand to better cater for families and tourists.”
