Community Health & Wellbeing take to the road

Community Health and Wellbeing vans are taking to the roads of Mid and East Antrim Borough and making it even easier for residents to access services.

Two vehicles, which are being operated by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, and funded by the Public Health Agency, will be travelling across the borough visiting residents in our towns, villages and rural areas - all in a bid to keep communities safe, warm and well.

Trained staff within Council’s Community Health & Wellbeing Team, who will drive the vehicles, carry out free energy efficiency assessments for households who would like some advice on energy management in their homes as well as home safety assessments for households with older residents and small children. The vans will ensure that products and safety equipment that are made available for distribution to the most vulnerable can be more easily transported around the borough, ensuring that delivery delays are minimised.

Mayor of Mid & East Antrim Borough Councli, Councillor William McCaughey, said: “We’re really pleased to launch these vans as an additional means of promoting the services we provide and also to make our home safety and energy efficiency advice, information and equipment even more accessible.

“The 'Safe, Warm & Well' programme aims to reduce home accidents which could result in hospital admissions and promote energy efficiency measures that can result in real savings on household energy costs.”
