Fashion show proves its always stylish to Shop Local
Forget Paris, Milan or London the real models were strutting their stuff at a recent Fashion Show held in Carrickfergus Civic Centre.
The show was organised by Carrickfergus Town Centre Partnership (CTCP) to encourage more people to Shop Local and was supported by Council’s Town Centre Development Team.
Building on the success of the previous year’s Fashion Show, the Civic Centre Mall was once again transformed with a catwalk, lights and music to showcase the fashion available in Carrickfergus Town Centre. Businesses who contributed outfits for the event included Action Cancer, Age NI, Blythswood, Bonmarche, Cuddys, Jazzi Jewels Gifts, Jeanius, Lisa’s Attic and The Mulberry Bush. The Glasshouse Bistro sponsored the catering and provided a voucher for the Prize Draw.
Other town centre businesses who supported the event by providing prizes including; The Dobbins Inn, 9 Yards Architecture, Robinson’s Shoes, Lisa’s Attic, Action Cancer, World of Colour, Fiona McFall Temple Spa, Carrickfergus Amphitheatre and The Gobbins.
The event was hosted by Gerry Lavz, a blogger, vlogger and instagrammer with over 26,000 followers and attended by the Mayor.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Maureen Morrow, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the fashion show and congratulate the local models who took part.
“It was great to see businesses such as Age Ni and Blythswood contributing alongside high street brands which provided very affordable outfits so there was a price range for everyone.
“We know this is a difficult time for our town centres businesses and this type of event is a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase what they have to offer and encourage shoppers to come back into the town centre to Shop Local.”
Organiser, Lisa Soutar from CTCP, said: “This is the second Fashion Show the CTCP has organised and I would like to thank all the businesses and the Council’s Town Centre Team that have contributed to its success.
“There is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make this event happen, but it is definitely worth it to raise the profile of the town and demonstrate that it is possible to support local businesses, Shop Local and look still amazing!”
The evening raised over £500 for the next Learning Disability Pride event, which is planned for 2021. The event which takes place in Carrickfergus celebrates people with a learning disability, raises awareness and challenges stereotypes and focuses on an inclusive and fun day out for families, individuals and groups.
Rosie Edge from the charity attended the event with two members of their Senior Gateway Club who all received a special invitation to the Mayors Parlour.
The CTCP has already received positive feedback from Fashion Show contributors, who have reported an increase in sales directly as a result of the show.
