Press release -
It’s game on as Council reopens pitches for bookings!
Summer pitches in Mid and East Antrim are now open for bookings, in accordance with the latest Coronavirus Regulations from the Northern Ireland Executive.
As more restrictions are relaxed, including the reopening of play parks, outdoor gyms and Carrickfergus Skate Park, from Friday 10 July, Council are reminding those using the facilities to exercise good hygiene and adhere to social distancing to protect themselves and others.
The following sites are open for pitch only bookings:
Ballykeel pitch 2
Dunfane pitches 1 and 2
Lamont pitch
Wakehurst pitch 6
Waveney pitch 1
Waveney training area
Our 2G and 3G pitches within Ballymena Showgrounds are also available for bookings, with training sessions continuing only for Ballymena United as players prepare for the Irish Cup semi-final.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Cllr Peter Johnston, said:
“We are beginning to see more of our facilities opening again to the public as we move through the Recovery Phase of the Coronavirus pandemic, and there is no better time than the summer months to get out and enjoy the first-class sports grounds and pitches we have available.
“I am delighted that as we reopen our play parks and outdoor gyms, much to the delight of all the families in our borough, we are now able to take bookings for the multi-sports pitches throughout the area.
“Looking after our health and wellbeing is more important than ever, and I would encourage all those who are planning on using our great facilities to continue following the public health guidelines to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.”
