Maud Nicholl celebrates 110th Birthday

County Antrim woman Maud Nicholl has celebrated her 110th birthday surrounded by friends and family.

Mayor Councillor Maureen Morrow and Deputy Mayor Beth Adger MBE joined Maud to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Mayor Councillor Maureen Morrow said: “Maud is an inspirational woman and it was a privilege to spend time in her company and to pass on the best wishes of everyone in Mid and East Antrim.

“She has a wide circle of friends who stop by to visit her every day. Not only is Maud one of our oldest residents, she is also one of our most popular.”

Maud Nicholl was brought up in the Dan's Road area of Ballymena with her brother, the late Joe Nicholl. She is a keen reader and has always enjoyed writing poetry.

Deputy Mayor Beth Adger MBE said: “I have known Maud for over 30 years and it was an honour to celebrate with her. She really is a remarkable lady who is a much-loved member of our community and I wish her nothing but good health and happiness as she enters her 111th year.”
