Press release -

Next steps outlined for Mid and East Antrim Local Development Plan 2030 process

Public consultation on the LDP Draft Plan Strategy concluded on 11 December 2019.

Altogether, 80 representations were received from consultees, stakeholder groups, development interests and members of the public who have now all had their say on the draft Plan strategy and supporting documentation.

Responses will be available for inspection on the Council’s website, in the Council Planning office and in the Council’s principal offices in Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne from 31 January to 27 March 2020.

Chair of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Planning Committee, Cllr Robert Logan, thanked all those who had engaged with the 12-week public consultation process.

“The Local Development Plan 2030 sets out Council’s ambitions and policies for employment, infrastructure, housing and sustainable growth over the next decade.

“The draft Plan Strategy was developed as the result of extensive consultation with the public, consultees, stakeholders and elected members, and I would like to commend all the hard work of Council officers in creating this very important roadmap for a strong, vibrant borough which delivers more employment and a better way of life for its people.

“Over the coming weeks, the feedback from all respondents to the public consultation will be available for inspection and there will be an opportunity for counter-representations to be made in advance of the next meeting of the LDP Working Group in April.

“This meeting will programme the remaining work that needs to be carried out to facilitate the Independent Examination of the Draft Plan Strategy.”
