Missing: Alessandro Severitano

Merseyside Police is appealing for the public's help to try to find 40-year-old Alessandro Severitano, who is missing from his home in Liverpool.

Alessandro was last seen by his friends at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital at around 9pm on Wednesday, 22 October 2014.

His friends and family are now very concerned about him and officers are appealing directly to Alessandro, or anyone who knows where he is, to get in touch as soon as possible.

Detective Inspector Graeme Robson, Liverpool North CID, said: "We'd urge Alessandro to make contact with us, even if it just to put his family's mind at rest and let them know he is safe and well. His mother is very worried about his safety and just want's to know he's OK.

"He left home with very few, if any, personal possessions, increasing our concerns about his welfare.

"We also know it was Alessandro's 40th birthday on the day he was last seen and clearly his family and friends are now desperate for him to make contact.

"The force is working closely with the Italian Consulate to make sure his family in Italy are supported through this difficult time."

His relatives have also released an appeal to Alessandro today, saying: 'Alessandro, it’s more than a week that we have no news of you. Mother is worried and anxious about you. She is waiting for you and cries every day.

"Your sisters and your nieces are desperate, they want you home. Give us a sign, let us understand that you are alive and well. Don’t be afraid of anybody, we are here to help and protect you.

"Please Alessandro, get in touch with us, we really need to hug you again."

They have also appealed to the 'good heart' of people across Merseyside and the rest of the country, saying: "We are desperate. To anybody who has seen him, we ask you to give us news of Alessandro or to contact the English Police. Please help us find him."

Detective Inspector Robson added: "The last sighting we have of Alessandro is on CCTV which shows him at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital with some friends before he leaves and heads towards the city centre just after 9pm last Wednesday.

"We have released this footage in a bid to encourage anyone who thinks they may have seen him since then to come forward."

Alessandro himself, or anyone who has information about his whereabouts, is urged to call officers via the 101 number or the Missing People Charity on 116000.

Original statement

Merseyside Police is becoming increasingly concerned about the welfare of a 40-year-old man who has been missing from his home in Liverpool city centre since Wednesday, 22 October.

Alessandro Severitano, from Bold Street, Liverpool, was last seen by a friend at around 9pm on Wednesday night at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Since then officers have been carrying out extensive inquiries to establish where he is.

Alessandro is described as white, of medium build, around 5ft 10in tall with black curly hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a light blue Adidas hooded top and tracksuit bottoms.

He is known to frequent the area around the University of Liverpool campus, including Crown Street and Riding Street.

His disappearance is totally out of character and both officers and Alessandro's friends and family are now becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare.
