CCTV issued of two people sought following fatal collision involving a moped in Hammersmith

Police have released CCTV footage of a moped rider and pillion passenger they want to identify and locate following a fatal collision in Hammersmith.

The incident happened shortly after 18:00hrs on Tuesday, 16 January in Talgarth Road, W14.

Ina Rodrigues, a 58-year-old woman, was crossing the road at the junction with Gliddon Road when she was struck by the moped.

Officers and London Ambulance Service were called to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment to the injuries she sustained but despite the efforts of medical professionals she sadly died in hospital on Sunday, 21 January.

Ina’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

The moped did not stop at the scene and CCTV captured the moment it was abandoned a short while later before the rider and passenger fled the scene on foot.

Detective Constable Matt Jackson, from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, leads the investigation. He said: “Our investigation has managed to track the moped to where it was abandoned but we now need the public’s help to try and identify the two people who were on it at the time of the collision.

“Ina’s family has been devastated as a result of this collision and we need to provide them with answers as to what happened to their loved one. If you can help, please get in contact immediately.”

Ina’s daughter said: “My family and I have been deeply affected by the sudden loss of my mother Ina. She was a beautiful, selfless woman who would do absolutely anything she could to help others.

“In her last days my Mum showed strength beyond anyone’s understanding and fought so hard until the very end. She had hopes of returning back home to me and my sister and we were so excited for her to come home.

“My Mum left home on the morning of Tuesday the 16th of January and never got to return. She was making her way back home after a busy day at work when she was hit at speed by two cowardly individuals on a moped. They left her for dead in the middle of a busy road.

“My Mum was our last surviving parent and it has been exceptionally hard to cope with her unexpected loss. I miss her every day and me, and my family, will not get closure until the two individuals in the video are found.

“I ask you please from the bottom of my heart, if you have any information even if it seems small to contact the police.

“Individuals like these should not be on the streets with the potential of putting other lives at risk. My Mum had so much life left to live and she should still be here today.”

There has been no arrest and enquiries continue.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information that could identify the people on the moped is asked to call 101 (24 hours) or the Serious Collision Investigation Unit witness line on 020 8543 5157 – please quote 6001718/24.
