Charge after bus driver assaulted on Battersea Bridge

A man has been charged after a bus driver was assaulted on Battersea Bridge.

Police were called at 00:33hrs on Monday, 18 May following reports of the incident.

Officers performed emergency first aid and the Transport for London bus driver, a 64-year-old man, was taken to hospital by London’s Air Ambulance. He remains in a critical condition.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Earlier this morning, Gary Jones, 32 (17.04.94), of no fixed address, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court this morning, Tuesday, 19 May and was remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Kingston Crown Court on Monday, 15 June.
