Man appears in court charged with murder in Wembley

A man will appear in court charged with murder following a stabbing in Wembley.

Derek Brown, 72 (29.10.51) of Cromwell Road, Wembley has appeared in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 23 March charged with murder; section 18 GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 26 March.

This follows an incident on 21 March when police were called to reports of a stabbing in Cromwell Road, Wembley at around midday.

Richard Brathwaite, 72, was pronounced dead at the scene – his next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

A special post-mortem examination took place on Saturday, 23 March and gave cause of death as a stab injury.

A woman, aged in her 70s, also suffered injuries during the incident – her injuries were not life threatening.
