Man charged with murder after fatal stabbing in Croydon

Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in Croydon have charged a man with murder.

Ellis Anim-Annor, 28 (28.08.1997), of Belgravia Gardens, Bromley, will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court this morning, Thursday, 19 February, charged with murder.

It follows the death of a 22-year-old man in Croydon in the early hours of Sunday, 15 February.

Police were called to Hesterman Way, Croydon, at around 01:15hrs following reports of a stabbing. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and found three men with stab wounds.

Lorik Abazi, 22, was taken to hospital by paramedics, where despite the efforts of medical staff he sadly died. His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Further arrests

A total of 10 people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Three people – two women, both aged 25, and a 28-year-old man, who has now been charged - were arrested on suspicion of murder on the afternoon of Sunday, 15 February.

Both women have since been bailed, although one of the women was arrested on Wednesday, 18 February on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She has been bailed pending further investigation.

Two men, both aged 21, and two women, aged 21 and 22, were arrested on Sunday, 15 February on suspicion of affray. The two women and one of the men have been bailed.

The second man, who was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the incident, was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, 18 February. He was taken to custody and has since been released on bail.

On Wednesday, 18 February a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She has been bailed pending further enquiries.

On Thursday 19 February two females, both aged 22 years were arrested on suspicion of affray. They remain in custody.

Enquiries into the incident continue. Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage that could be relevant to the investigation is asked to submit it online via the Major Incident Public Portal or call police on 101, quoting CAD 511/15FEB.
