Man charged with murder of woman in Southwark
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead in a property in Southwark.
James Flanagan, 53 (31.07.1972), of Stead Street, North Walworth, was charged with murder on Wednesday, 17 December.
He appeared at Croydon Magistrates court on Thursday, 18 December where he was remanded in custody. He will appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 22 December.
At 14.23hrs on Sunday, 14 December police attended an address in Rodney Road, North Walworth, following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Officers attended the address where a woman in her 50s was found dead. She can now be named as Julie Wilson, 58. Her family are being supported by specialist officers.
A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and subsequently charged as above.
Paying tribute to their Mum, Julie’s daughters said:
“Julie Marie Wilson, a beautiful loving soul and mother to three daughters. Someone who loved without limits, gave without asking, who had a smile and a laugh that could light up any room. We’re counting down the days to be reunited with our Mum again. We will be loving and missing you forever, Mum.”
Detective Inspector Mark Franklin, of the Met's Specialist Crime South, said: "Our thoughts are with Julie's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
"While a man has now been charged, our investigation continues, and we urge anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to come forward."
