Fourth person charged in connection with West Kensington murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in West Kensington continue to appeal for witnesses and information as they charge a fourth person.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday, 10 April and was charged the following day with the murder of Janayo Lucima who was fatally shot at Comeragh Road, W14 at round 22:15hrs on Monday, 1 April.

He appeared at Islington Magistrates Court on Friday, 12 April and next appears in custody at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 16 April.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, leads the investigation and said: “Although there is clear progress being made in this investigation, we are still very keen to hear from anyone who has information that could assist our investigation. No matter how insignificant it may seem, please do share it with us.

“A group of males were seen in the area at the time of the shooting, either on foot or on a bike, I need the public’s help to identify those people.

“Were you in the area of Comeragh Road, Barton Road and Palliser Road towards Barons Court Tube Station between 21:40hrs and 22:30hrs on 1 April – did you see anything that might help us? If you can help, please reach out as a matter of urgency.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to identify those responsible for Janayo’s murder to give his loved ones the answers they so desperately need.”

Police were called at 22:17hrs to reports of a disturbance and shooting at a residential address on Comeragh Road, W14.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found Janayo injured at the scene. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at 22:54hrs.

A post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday, 3 April and gave cause of death as a gunshot injury.

Three people have appeared in court charged with Janayo’s murder.
