Officer dismissed for inappropriate conduct
A Met Police officer has been dismissed for inappropriately touching female officers and making inappropriate jokes while on duty.
A gross misconduct hearing, which concluded on Friday, 30 January, found that PC Jayson Lynch inappropriately touched six female officers while on duty between October 2023 and May 2024.
He touched the officers over their clothing, on their waists, hips, arms and their feet. He also made an inappropriate, sexual comment to one of the officers.
PC Lynch, who was based on the South West Command Unit, was also found to have told inappropriate, sexual jokes to a vulnerable girl while she was under police guard at hospital on 1 July, 2023.
Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles, responsible for policing the South West Command Unit, said:
"PC Lynch's behaviour fell well short of that expected of a serving officer.
"There is no place for inappropriate behaviour in policing or in any workplace. We will not tolerate such behaviour and will continue to drive up standards across the Met, removing officers who have no place in our organisation.”
PC Lynch was found to have breached the police standards of professional behaviour relating to discreditable conduct. It amounted to gross misconduct, and was so serious as to justify immediate dismissal.
In addition, he will be placed on the barred list held by the College of Policing. Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
