Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc Review
Q1 of 2011 is going to witness some serious activity within the mobile space. Topping charts on the expected list is the innovative Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arcabroad. Sony has categorized this handset as a worthy successor to the popular Sony Ericsson X10. Also known as the Sony Ericsson X12 or Sony Ericsson Anzu the device will be showcased in the upcoming CES to be held in Las Vegas. The handset is incredibly slim and weighs in at an astounding 117grams for a device that incorporates a mammoth 4.2 inch touch screen LED-backlit LCD display. Unlike previous XPERIA Smartphone’s, the SE XPERIA Arc will feature a powerful 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and 512 MB of internal ROM.
Sony has also included the much anticipated ‘Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine’ that is capable of performing live modifications to the display contrast, brightness, color and even plays a role in reducing noise whenever necessary. The brilliant 4.2 inch touch LED-backlit LCD displays images and texts vividly which is further augmented by the 16million color support. Other than the exceptional Multi-touch input support the display also integrates Proximity sensor, Accelerometer sensor and at the brand new Mediascape UI.
Sony has clearly stated that it has plans to build most of its handsets for the Android market. Staying true to their word, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc comes powered with the latest Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Features such as YouTube, Calendar and Google Talk come embedded within the new Android 2.3 OS. Social networking fans will also be delighted to hear that the handset integrates Facebook and Twitter. The Gingerbread OS uses a unified inbox which can be accessed and updated right from your home screen.
One of the high points of this handset is the revolutionary 8MP autofocus camera that now comes with dedicated LED flash support. Capable of capturing images at an astounding 3264x2448 pixels, the XPERIA abroad captures HD quality videos at 720p. The HD optics supports Touch focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging and smile detection.
Sony has generously included 8 GB of onboard memory on the XPERIA ARC which can be further extended to 32GB via a microSD card. Music and video playback is exceptional just like another Sony Ericsson handset. The abroad also slots in a nifty Neo-Reader barcode scanner and a built in HDMI port that can be used to enjoy multimedia content over a wide screen HD display. The device will hit shelves in two colors Midnight Blue and Misty Silver, within the Q1 of 2011.
