The Cadbury Foundation donates £90,000 to anti-poverty charity, Trussell
The Cadbury Foundation has marked its upcoming 90th anniversary by donating £90,000 to Trussell, helping to tackle hunger and hardship across the UK.
The substantial grant will help support food banks in the Trussell community to be there for people for as long as they are needed. In the last year, an emergency food parcel was distributed every 11 seconds to someone facing hunger and hardship in the UK.
In addition to the significant sum, Mondelēz International UK employees will have the opportunity to build on their existing support for the charity through volunteering at food banks, hosting food collections, and fundraising. Colleagues raised £15,000 for Trussell as part of last year’s Christmas Jumper Day, and a team at Bournville has been organising food collections on an annual basis. The Cadbury Foundation was established in recognition of the Cadbury brothers’ belief that supporting local communities benefits both society and business. In the last 15 years alone, it has donated more than £10 million to registered charities and community partners.
Trussell has been working with the Cadbury brand since 2020 to support local communities through seasonal charity campaigns. Each year, special seasonal treats are donated to food banks in the Trussell commmunity at Christmas and Easter, helping to bring generosity and comfort to people facing hunger.
Louise Stigant, Managing Director of Mondelēz International UK and Ireland, and Chair of The Cadbury Foundation, commented: “For almost nine decades, the Cadbury Foundation has supported communities and numerous charities, empowered people and created a lasting impact.
“As we celebrate 90 years of giving back, we’re incredibly proud to award this milestone donation to Trussell, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities we operate in.
“Food banks need support now more than ever, and we’re delighted that our donation and the continuous voluntary work of our colleagues will enable Trussell’s incredible community of food banks across the UK to help people facing hunger and hardship for years to come.”
Zoe Pate, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Trussell said: “We are so grateful to the Cadbury Foundation for supporting Trussell and our community of food banks. Their generosity helps us to continue provide vital emergency support to those facing hardship, as we work together to end the need for food banks in the UK.”
