Forres duck pond maintenance to begin next week
MAINTENANCE works will be carried out at the Mosset Burn in Forres from next week.
The pond will be dredged, and tree surgeons will be on site to prune the overgrown bushes and remove those trees with dead and broken stems in the water. Sections of the footpath will be upgraded, and timber bridges will be treated with wood preservative.
The water level within the pond will be dropped to allow access to the island for the work to be carried out, and to remove sludge and debris, mainly at the outlet end of the pond. Moray Council has consulted with SEPA and work will be carried out following their guidance.
Moray Council’s Assistant Lands and Parks Officer, Grant Speed, said the work is expected to be completed by the Spring.
“Importantly, undertaking this work will improve the appearance of the area whilst maintaining it as a habitat for wildlife.”
